Research released by Oxford University in 2017 suggested that “communal eating increases social bonding and feelings of wellbeing, and enhances one’s sense of contentedness and embedding within the community.”

Creating family mealtimes can feel daunting for parents in the special needs community, according to Marianne Gellert-Jones, MA, CCC-SLP, a clinical feeding specialist and speech language pathologist at HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy in Philadelphia.
